Linking!

How do I create a link to an image? (I know that dropping an image proxy onto my page creates an inline image, and dropping a page proxy into my text flow creates a link to that page).

Simple. Just hold the command key down when you drop the image proxy. This instructs PageMill to create a link to that image rather than insert the image itself.

Is there a shortcut for selecting the entire range of a link?

Yes. Triple-clicking on any part of the linked text selects the entire range of that link.

How do I assign an external URL to a range of text?

There are two ways. After selecting the text, you can either (i) use the Attributes Inspector to type an external URL into the URL field, or (ii) hit the 'enter' key, which activates the Link Display Bar at the bottom of the page. Type in the external URL and hit the 'enter' key again. Note that the 'world' icon to the left of the Link Display Bar can be used as a drag proxy for the displayed URL.

How do I remove a link from a range of text?

The simplest way is to use the 'Remove Link' command in the Edit menu after selecting the range of text. You could also use the Attributes Inspector to clear the URL displayed in the URL field. Finally, you could hit the 'enter' key, which activates the URL display bar at the bottom of the page. Delete the URL and hit the 'enter' key again.

Is there some way to drag links from Netscape?

Sort of. In Netscape, if you drag off a link, it will drag the explicit text of the URL underlying that link. In PageMill, you can select the text you want to have linked, then go drag the link from Netscape and drop it in the Link Display Bar at the bottom of the Page View (just as if you'd typed it in yourself!).
